Who is Jordan A. Carter
Jordan Carter is a Mississippi native, who fell in love with Grand Prairie, Texas as it reminds of the hospitable nature of her hometown. Her journey and dedication to social justice and human rights began at a very early age and reignited while she was a student at the illustrious Jackson State University, a Historically Black College and University. (Yes, the school our beloved Primetime coached at!) While a student at Jackson State, Jordan worked tirelessly with campus officials and administration to create safe and healthy environments for our student population and community. She singlehandedly work with administration to bring various programs designed to assist students with mental and physical health as well as promote campus safety and community. While at Jackson State, Jordan served as president of her sorority chapter, Gamma Rho Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, where her leadership abilities, community activism, and educational achievements lead her to be appointed to several undergraduate boards for the organization and ultimately, win Undergraduate President of the Year in 2016.
Jordan’s activism and helping spirit did not end when she went to DePaul University College of Law in Chicago, Illinois for law school. While at Depaul, Jordan excelled in her studies getting the highest grades in Constitutional Law and Election Law, which were also her favorite classes in school. When she was not being praised by her professors, Jordan gave back to the Chicago community working with area organizations to stop gun violence, assist the homeless population with obtaining identification, and educating youth on various topics. She also served as the President of the Black Law Student Association where she worked with administration and other campus programs to promote diversity, fairness, and equity in the learning experience. After graduating top of her class, Jordan knew it was time to head back to the State of her heart - Texas.
From the time Jordan stepped on Dallas County soil, she dedicated her time and talents to advocating on behalf of victims. While serving as an Assistant District Attorney with the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office, Jordan advocated on behalf of domestic violence survivors obtaining justice for the crimes committed against them and create a space for them to share their truth and be heard. She worked tirelessly to educate the youth on the danger of domestic violence and the red flags to be aware of. Handling over 2000 domestic violence cases, Jordan understands what it means to effectively communicate and provide a voice to someone.
Grand Prairie became Jordan’s home after she was a victim of a crime in another city. She immediately knew Grand Prairie was her choice because of the work of the police department when they handled her domestic violence cases and their attention to detail. She believes in the vision of Grand Prairie and wants to help bring that vision to light.
Jordan has a fur baby named Sebastian who takes all her money and time.

When I moved to Grand Prairie, I moved out of fear and Grand Prairie was my refuge. I want to give back to a city that has given me so much and I have a vision for the city that will not only promote economic stability, but also community participation and growth.
